In 1909, three craftsmen named OHNO Kozaemon, NAKAMURA Kakichiro and ONO Mohei began producing a cocoon unwinding agent in a shed of the incense shop Ohno Kungyokudo. This product – later renamed SILKREELER – dramatically improved spinning productivity, and contributed to establishing mass production technology in the silk industry. These men carried out further development and continued to sell products such as scouring agents and oils for the textile industry – which was the key industry at that time. In 1914, the company became the Ohno Kogyo Seiyakusho general partnership, and Dai-ichi Kogyo Seiyaku Co., Ltd. was established in 1918.
